First time install process overview

Install and configure the Central Management Server. The procedure to complete this step is in the installation chapter of this guide. See Chapter 3 “Installing HP SIM on the Central Management Server (CMS) for the first time” for details.

Configure HP SIM for your environment. See Chapter 4 “Configuring HP SIM using the First Time Wizard” or Chapter 5 “Configuring HP SIM using the Options menu” for the recommended tasks.

Install and configure the required Management Agents on the systems that will be managed by the Central Management Server. This step is covered in the first section of Chapter 6 “Setting up and configuring managed systems”.

Configure the remaining protocols for the managed systems. See Chapter 6 “Setting up and configuring managed systems” for details.
