Starting AAA Servers Using Server Manager

  1. Select the Administration link from the Navigation Tree.

  2. Select the servers you want to start in the Server Status frame.

    NOTE: Server commands will only be executed on servers selected in the Server Status frame.
  3. Select the Start button.

The following figure shows the return value in Server Manager's message frame when a server is sucessfully started:

AAA Server Start Options

Selecting the Start button's corresponding Options icon displays the Start Options screen shown below. This screen allows you to specify start options:

Table 4-1 Server Start Options

OptionDescription
AuthenticationPort number to listen for authentication requests on.
Authentication RelayPort number to relay authentication requests to. Useful when proxing requests to a AAA server that is not listening on the default port.
AccountingPort number to listen for accounting requests on.
Accounting RelayPort number to relay accounting requests to. Useful when proxing requests to a AAA server that is not listening on the default port.
Inactivity TimeoutInactivity timeout value (minutes). If the value is set to 0, then the server will not timeout and terminate. Default is 15 minutes.
Reset Session Table

Empties stored session table at server startup.

IMPORTANT: This option is only intended for experimental use or testing and not for a live production server. If you reset a production server, the server will lose track of the sessions that are still active.
Debug LevelSpecifies the debug level. Higher levels write more information to the radius.debug file. Increasing this value can cause performance to decline.
Reset logfileEmpties the logfile and debug file when the server is started.

 

IMPORTANT: Modified start options will not take effect until the server is stopped (by selecting the stop button) and then restarted.
NOTE: All options specified when the server is started ar written to the server's logfile.
