The Remote Authentication Dial In User Service (RADIUS) protocol defines
a standard for information exchange between a network device or software
application and an authentication, authorization, and accounting
(AAA) server to manage and track user access to network services.
An HP-UX AAA server provides authentication (verifying user credentials),
authorization (supplying provisioning information for the user),
and accounting (storage of usage information into accounting logs) services
to devices and software applications (AAA clients) supporting the
IETF RADIUS standards.
Note that the AAA or RADIUS client is the access device or
application that is acting as an enforcement point to control access
to a resource. The user device itself or application requesting
access to the resource is generally referred to as the supplicant.
