Operating Systems Supported on Managed Systems

Table 2-5 lists the operating systems that are supported on managed systems with an HP-UX CMS. For more complete information about supported managed system types for both the HP-UX CMS and Microsoft Windows CMS, see the VSE Management Software Version 4.0 Support Matrix.

The libc cumulative patch must be installed to use Application Discovery and gWLM:

On HP-UX 11i v1: PHCO_37369

On HP-UX 11i v2: PHCO_37228

On managed systems running HP-UX 11i v1, the patch PHCO_30030 must be installed to use Application Discovery.

On managed systems running HP-UX 11i v2, the memory patch PHSS_33349 must be installed to use Virtualization Manager and Capacity Advisor.

A managed system running HP-UX 11i v2 within a virtual machine under HP Integrity VM requires the following kernel patches:

PHKL_33752
PHKL_35174

On rx8640 or rx7640 systems running HP-UX 11i v2, kernel patch PHKL_35174 must be installed to manage nPartitions and virtual partitions with gWLM.

The patches listed above might have additional patch dependencies and might be superseded by more recent patches.

Logical servers are not supported on HP-UX managed systems.

64-bit Microsoft Windows for Integrity

Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition

Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition




	NOTE: Systems running Microsoft Windows can only be managed by gWLM as HP Integrity virtual machines.

32-bit Microsoft Windows

Supported with Windows CMS only. These systems cannot be managed from an HP-UX CMS.




	NOTE: Systems running Microsoft Windows cannot be managed by gWLM.

64-bit Linux for Integrity

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 update 2 or later for Intel Itanium

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 for Intel Itanium

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 Service Pack 2 or later for Intel Itanium

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 for Intel Itanium




	NOTE: Systems running Linux cannot be managed by gWLM.

32-bit Linux

32-bit Linux systems are only supported with Windows CMS. These systems cannot be managed from an HP-UX CMS.




	NOTE: Systems running Linux cannot be managed by gWLM.

VMWare ESX and Microsoft Virtual Server (MSVS) virtual machines and VM Hosts

Only supported with Windows CMS (requires HP Virtual Machine Management Pack). These systems cannot be managed from an HP-UX CMS.
