Install HP SIM and the VSE Management Software using Procedure 3-1.




	IMPORTANT: Starting with VSE Management Software version 4.0 (A.04.00.07.`xx`), licenses for VSE Management Software are now managed in the HP SIM License Manager database on the CMS. When you upgrade an HP-UX CMS that has a previous version of the VSE Management Software installed, any product licenses that were previously installed or scanned are automatically migrated to the License Manager database. For more information about migrating previous licenses to the new license model, see vselicense(1M) and the VSE Management Software Version 4.0 Getting Started Guide.

Procedure 3-1 Installation Overview

Obtain the VSE Management Software installation package. It is available as a single download from the Software Depot website at http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=vse. The software includes a 90-day trial license for HP 9000 and HP Integrity managed systems. Prepare for VSE Management Software installation by installing the required software and patches, establishing common WBEM user credentials on the CMS and managed systems, and completing preinstallation steps for Linux and Microsoft Windows managed systems. See “Prepare for Installation”.
If you are upgrading from a previous version of the VSE Management Software, perform the upgrade preinstallation steps as described in “Before Upgrading from a Previous Version”.
Install HP SIM and the VSE Management Software on the CMS. See “Install the Software on the CMS”.
Launch HP SIM and run the First Time Wizard and the Discovery processes. See “Start and Configure HP SIM”.
Install the WBEM providers and other agent software on your managed systems. See “Install VSE Agent Software on Managed Systems”.
If you upgraded from a previous version of the VSE Management Software, perform the upgrade postinstallation steps as described in “After Upgrading from a Previous Version”.

Configure the VSE Management Software for your environment. See “Configure VSE Management Software”.




	IMPORTANT: The VSE Management Software does not operate correctly until you complete these postinstallation configuration steps. You must perform these steps even when you are reinstalling or updating an existing installation.
