The following corrections and additions apply to the Capacity Advisor documentation.

Auto Power Calibration Requires VSE All Tools Authorization

Auto power calibration requirements are not documented in the Capacity Advisor documentation. Capacity Advisor auto power calibration requires the user to have a SIM authorization for the VSE All Tools on the CMS and for the managed node.

Changes to Capacity Advisor Profile Viewer

Changes to the Profile Viewer are not documented in the Capacity Advisor Help Reference. Consult the Capacity Advisor Version 4.0 User Guide at http://docs.hp.com/en/vse.html for the most recent information on how to use this feature.

New Capacity Advisor Utilization Resource Types

Not all of the new utilization resource types (network and disk I/O and power) are noted on every screen help topic and procedure that corresponds to the user interface screen where they occur.

To learn about fields associated with these new resource types, locate the following topics in the help reference (either by scanning the left navigation bar under Capacity Advisor or by using the help search engine or index):

  • Editing Network and Disk I/O

  • Power Settings

Capacity Advisor Error Message Changes

Changes in error messages seen in the Capacity Advisor user interface may not be reflected in user documentation. When in doubt, the user interface provides the most correct information.

capcollect(1M) Manpage Error

The explanation in the “Return Value 1” section is for HP System Insight Manager versions (5.01 and 5.00.02) that are not supported by the current version of Capacity Advisor. Ignore this section.

Options not Documented in capcollect(1M) Manpage

The following options are not documented in the capcollect(1m) manpage:

  • -i

Perform IPM calibration only, without collecting utilization data. Any systems specified on the command line with this option should support Insight Power Manager.

  • -f

    Force IPM calibration.

  • -z

Perform utilization collection only, without performing IPM calibration.

See the HP Capacity Advisor Version 4.0 User's Guide for information on IPM calibration.

Incorrect Values Given in Capacity Advisor Help

Some values given in the help are incorrect. Consult the HP Capacity Advisor Version 4.0 User's Guide at http://docs.hp.com/en/vse.html for the most up-to-date information. This type of error is known to occur for the following information:

  • Headroom ratings

  • % Virtualization Overhead multiplier
