Always backup the system prior to removal and installation of any X.25/ACC software versions. If a previous version of the X.25/ACC product is already on the target system, this must be removed and the kernel must be rebuilt before the new software is installed. The software removal process for HP-UX 11.00 is basically the same for the pre-bundled X.25/ACC software as for the ACC X.25/9000 Link Software. The difference is in the list of daemons and utilities that must be stopped before the removal can take place.

CAUTION: It is very important to follow the instructions provided with the software that is currently installed in the system to shutdown and remove that software. This procedure may change between major releases of the product.
  1. Log in to the system as superuser.

  2. Shut down the X.25/ACC Subsystem:

    % zmasterd stop
  3. Kill the ACC daemon processes:

    % zmasterd kill
  4. Run swremove to remove the X.25/ACC product.

    % swremove
NOTE: The swremove will fail if any ACC daemon is still active. Terminate any active ACC daemon indicated in the log file and try again. Also the ACC bundled product cannot be removed without removing the other ACC protocol accessories as well.

All of the ACC related products can be removed by selecting them and then marking them for removal. (Both the terminal interface and the GUI interface for swremove behave the same; only the means for selecting items differs.)

  5. Select the items to be removed in the “Software Selection Window” and mark for removal, using the “Mark for Remove” function under the “Actions” menu. When all items are marked, select the “Remove(analysis)” action.

Open “Logfile” to view running status of the removal process, and follow any screen prompts until the removal process is done.

  6. If the removal is successful, swremove will automatically rebuild the kernel and reboot your system.

If for any reason swremove does not rebuild your kernel, you'll need to manually finish up the swremove process by entering:

         % cd /stand
    % mk_kernel

When this succeeds replace the currently running kernel with the new kernel:

         % kmupdate

    Reboot the system:

         % cd /
    % shutdown -r 0
